“Good luck fish” — a large fish with long whiskers and lavish fins swims through watercolour washes. The piece is bright and almost festive in mood.

What the picture shows

The fish fills nearly the whole field, turned head downwards. Its body is built from small patches of colour — pink, lilac, ochre, green and blue — so the scales shimmer like stained glass. The dorsal fin opens in a wide fan painted in the same shades, and long thin whiskers trail from its snout. The background is blurred watercolour: crimson and violet at the upper left, blue on the right, clean white paper in the middle, with fine spatters flying across it. The fill is partial: beads cover the fish with its fins and whiskers plus a few coloured droplets around it, while the washed background stays printed on the canvas.
