What the picture shows

The frame is filled edge to edge with sunflowers: several large heads with golden, orange and ochre petals and dark brown or greenish centres, with big green leaves between them. The background is light greenish-grey, brushed in broadly. Coverage is partial and rather unusual: the beads do not fill solid areas but run in lines — outlining every petal, tracing the veins of the leaves and the rings of the centres, while the rest of the image stays as paint on the canvas. The finished piece reads as a painting with a beaded contour that catches the light from different angles.
