“Gifts of Autumn” — a full autumn bouquet in a pale jug, with clusters of berries and fallen leaves on the table. The piece is warm and dense in colour.

What the picture shows

At the heart of the bouquet is a large yellow flower with long pointed petals; around it are pink and crimson blooms, yellow-green and reddish leaves, tiny white flowers, and heavy clusters of red berries hanging down on both sides. The bouquet stands in a tall jug, pale blue with a faint cool highlight on its side. Single leaves and petals lie on the table top, along with a few more berry sprigs. The background is a blurred grey-olive wash, like a room in soft light. The beadwork is partial: you bead the flowers, leaves, berries and the jug, while the painted background and table stay as print, so the piece never looks overloaded.
