Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "Flowers of India"
Description
“Flowers of India” is a portrait of a young Indian woman in festive dress, with the silhouette of a white mausoleum showing through a warm haze behind her.
What the picture shows
She is shown close up, hands folded beside her face; she wears a pink veil and a golden outfit densely worked with ornament. Gold covers her head, brow, ears and wrists: a hair pendant, earrings, a necklace, rows of bangles and a small nose ornament. On the right, in smoky perspective, stands a white building with a large dome and minarets; on the left and in the corners the background is filled with big pale mandalas. The whole picture is built on muted dusty pink, ochre and gold. The beadwork is partial but very dense on the clothing: beads cover the jewellery, the veil, the embroidered dress, the outline of the building and part of the ornament, while the face, the hands and the hazy background stay printed.
