What the picture shows

The owls are gathered in a close group: the largest behind, in a green hat with red berries and a sprig of holly, and two smaller ones in front. One wears a green bobble hat and a striped red-and-white scarf, the other a green scarf with berries. The plumage is white with blue and grey shading, the eyes large and round above small yellow beaks. A striped candy cane leans in at the left, and thick green needles under snow hang from above. The background is a snowy wood and a fir tree in misty haze. Coverage is partial: beads fill the owls, their clothes and the fir needles, while the snow, the mist and the distant trees stay as print on the canvas.
