Description

“Driada” shows a winged forest fairy sitting in deep grass, bending towards the ground. The piece is dark and warm, with light breaking through the leaves.

What the picture shows

The fairy is seen in profile, with long curly hair the colour of dark honey and a wreath on her head. Her dress is soft grey-lilac with pink and violet ribbons and golden cuffs; she leans forward and touches the grass with her hand. Large transparent dragonfly wings spread behind her — white, with blue and turquoise veins. Dark forest thicket and ferns fill the left and lower parts, and a greenish-yellow patch of sun glows in the middle. Coverage is partial: beads work the wings, the dress, the ribbons, the wreath and the greenery around her, while the face, the hands, the hair and the forest background stay printed on the canvas.
