Description

“Christmas Eve” is a log cabin window, with firelight, a dressed tree and presents visible through the panes.

What the picture shows

The wall is built of thick round logs in warm honey tones. At the centre is a six-pane window in a broad dark-red frame: above you can see a moose head on the wall and a wooden vault, in the middle a stone fireplace and a lit Christmas tree, and below the burning logs and red gift boxes. A lantern with yellow glass hangs on the wall to the left, a tit sits on the wooden sill, and another has settled on the end of a log to the right. Snow lies along the bottom, warmed by the light from the window, with blue shadows in the lower right corner. The beading is partial: the logs, the frame, the lantern, the snow and the birds are beaded, while everything seen through the panes stays printed on the canvas.
