Description

“Beacon” shows a lighthouse on a rocky shore and a sailing ship crossing the sea in pink evening light. The mood is that of a quiet homecoming.

What the picture shows

The lighthouse stands on a hill to the right: a tall tower in bands of colour — pink, blue, lilac — with a dark cherry dome and a glazed lantern at the top. A small stone house with a tiled roof leans against its base, surrounded by green trees and thick bushes of pink and crimson flowers, with a sandy path leading to the door. Far to the left a three-masted ship sails under full canvas, and gulls circle above the water. The sky is wide, with pink, lilac and gold clouds; the sea is calm, blue and white. Coverage is partial: beads work the lighthouse, the house, the trees, the flowers and the band of waves, while the sky, the sea and the ship stay printed on the canvas.
