“Batterfly and poppies” — a large striped butterfly rests on open orange poppies beside an old fence. A warm palette, almost bleached by the sun.

What the picture shows

At the centre is the butterfly, its broad wings striped in brown and yellow, with long thin antennae stretching far to the right. Below and behind it large poppies have opened: orange and yellow petals with deep cherry-red hearts, and on the lower flower a grey seed head with its stamens. Around them are green buds on long stems, small crimson and lilac flowers, and narrow leaves. The background is the grey boards of an old fence with greenery behind them. The beadwork is partial: you bead the butterfly, the poppies, the buds, the leaves and the small flowers, while the boards and the blurred greenery stay as print.
