Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "Basket of tulips"

“Basket of tulips” is a generous armful of pink and white tulips in a wicker basket on a lace tablecloth. The picture is light and very homely.

What the picture shows

The tulips are double, with wavy petals: a white heart shades softly into crimson-pink edges, and a few buds are still closed. Long grey-green leaves hang over the rim of the basket and lie on the table. The basket is woven from willow, with a pale handle just visible behind the flowers. The table is covered with a white cloth edged in lace, and the background is a plain, warm sandy yellow with no detail. Coverage is partial: the flowers, leaves, basket and lace are worked in beads, while the yellow background stays printed on the canvas. The bouquet spreads wide, almost the full width of the canvas, and a few blooms lean down over the rim of the basket. The palette is warm and low in contrast: pink, white, grey-green and sand.
