“Azure splashes” — an open window with a turquoise wave rising beyond it, and a bouquet, shells and small seaside things gathered on the sill.

What the picture shows

In the depth lies the sea: a tall translucent wave, a band of sand and a bright sky with gulls. Light white curtains hang on either side. On the right side of the sill stands a round white vase with a bouquet — red, mauve and blue flowers among small leaves — and beside it a large pink-and-yellow conch shell. On the left is a wreath of greenery, berries and flowers around a round inset with a bird, and a small bird perches on the window itself. Below are yellow pebbles and a medallion with a sailing ship; at the upper right a white horse shows inside a frame. Coverage is partial: beads fill the flowers, the foliage, the vase, the shells and the small objects, while the sea, the sky and the curtains stay painted on the canvas.
