Description

“Autumn Fantasy” is an evening street after rain, painted in pure colour: a yellow canopy of leaves, café lights and a single figure under an umbrella.

What the picture shows

The upper part is taken up by an ochre building with three windows in blue and red frames and a dense tree of small yellow-green leaves. Below them is a lit entrance with an awning, tables just visible behind the glass. A black lamppost with an openwork lantern stands full height on the right against an orange wall. A small figure with a white umbrella walks down the middle of the street. The lower third is wet asphalt, where the light spreads in long bands of red, orange, turquoise and blue. The beading is partial: beads cover the foliage, the walls, the windows, the lamppost and the figure, while the broad strokes of the reflections on the road stay as painting.
