“Camomiles and coffee” — a festive still life with a coffee pot, a cup and daisies, painted in free patches of colour.

What the picture shows

The still life is worked in a manner close to batik: patches of colour spread out, with light contours left between them. On the table stand a tall coffee vessel with a long handle, a covered cup and a glass vase of daisies and yellow flowers; a second vase on the right holds another bunch of daisies. The cloth and the background break up into lilac, crimson, blue and emerald patches, so the boundary between objects and ground almost disappears. Coverage is full: circles cover the entire field, from the flowers to the furthest patch of background. The artist's signature is visible in the lower left corner and remains part of the image.
