“Virgo” shows a girl in a long yellow dress with a white apron.

What the picture shows

The dress takes up most of the piece: yellow and golden beads laid in broad rows down the skirt, the white apron worked in matt beads. The wavy hair is run in golden threads of beads with a red flower in it. The face and hands stay printed. Round flower rosettes of green and red beads are scattered across the crimson field. The word for Virgo is set across the top in white beads. The ground stays printed: on art canvas the beads do not cover the surface. The skirt is the longest passage: the rows curve to follow the folds, and they decide whether the dress will look soft. The apron and collar are worked in matt white beads that mute the shine of the gold, and that makes the dress look woven rather than metallic.
