Description

A canal with a bridge and moored boats under the windows of old houses is “Venice”.

What the picture shows

The bridge arches over the canal in white pearl and pink beads, with handrails running down from it. On the left stands a violet-blue house in which every window is marked by a pearl and the cornices by rows of lilac beads. On the right there is an ochre house with pearl rows across its front and a neighbour with bright blue windows of translucent beads. Boats are moored along the banks below: their sides are outlined in beads while the hulls stay pink, yellow and blue print. The water is deep blue with a printed pattern of squares, and single blue and turquoise beads are laid over it like the glint of lamps.
