Description

“The best day” shows an owl in a paper party hat standing beside a cupcake with a lit candle.

What the picture shows

The owl is round and plump: feathers from gold to dark brown laid in scales, big yellow eyes with black pupils, a small beak and russet feet. A blue-and-white striped hat with beads along its brim sits on its head. To the right stands the cupcake: a brown fluted case with diagonal ribs, white icing with red dots on top, and a candle pushed into it — a pale blue column with a gold flame. Nine colours, 6 m of thread. The ground is white and unstitched, so the dark owl reads very clearly. The finished embroidery is set into a square acrylic frame with magnetic tape.
