Description

“Surprise – 1” shows a hedgehog in a red hat standing in the snow beside a wicker basket of presents.

What the picture shows

The hat is beaded in red, while the hedgehog's spines and face stay printed and his paws and feet are marked with dark beads. The basket is laid in brown and gold beads in a woven pattern, holding yellow, red and green parcels. A green fir tree with a candy on a branch grows at the right. White snowflakes are scattered around and a drift of pale beads runs along the bottom. The blue-green background is printed. The most interesting area is the weave of the basket: brown and gold beads alternate, and it is that alternation which creates the sense of wicker. The hedgehog's red hat and the parcels in the basket give colour accents against the cool ground. The fir tree at the right stays printed, framed by just a few green beads.
