Description

In “Summer evening” a ginger cat sits on a fence with its back to the viewer, looking out over the bay.

What the picture shows

The cat is filled solidly with amber and golden beads — the only densely beaded figure in the piece, with its ears, striped tail and round back. The fence beneath it is laid in vertical rows of red beads. In front are garden flowers: pink and red blooms, a blue flower, a yellow bead star and broad green leaves in two shades. Beyond the water a bridge arches in cream beads, and the line of the far shore is marked by a chain of translucent blue ones. A small white sailing boat crosses the bay and stays printed. The sky is pink and orange with orange beads set into it like lights; green foliage hangs down from above.
