Description

“Retro Car” shows a vintage automobile in black and pink, seen from the side and slightly above.

What the picture shows

The body, wings and roof are beaded in black, while every line — the running board, the wing rims, the stripe along the side — is picked out in pink and crimson. The wheels have silver spokes, and two golden headlamps sit on brackets at the front. The pale background with lilac washes stays printed on the canvas: the beads outline the car and emphasise the chrome, while the print works as a ready watercolour backdrop. The black-and-pink contrast makes the car readable from two metres away. The pink lines take the most time — they are thin and long, and it is they that shape the car. The wheels and headlamps go quickly, being compact rounded areas.
