Description

In “Mites” a big piglet with large ears holds a small one close.

What the picture shows

The outlines of both are run in cream and white pearl beads — the ears, the heads, the backs and the line of a trotter. The snouts are marked with rings of pink beads, while the eyes and nostrils stay as fine print. The little piglet has settled under the older one's chin, and its ear overlaps the bigger one's neck, so the two share a single silhouette. Beaded flowers are scattered across the whole field: lilac ones with red centres, pink, white and cream, each gathered from five petals. The watercolour ground shifts between blue, pink and peach and stays printed — on art canvas the beads do not cover the surface solidly.
