Description

Lilies of the valley open above a small yellow chick in the kit called “May Lilies”.

What the picture shows

The bells of the lilies are set in white pearl beads in tight clusters of four to six and hang from slender stems. The leaves are worked in two shades of green: darker along the edges of the broad blades and lighter inside. A chick stands among the greenery — its silhouette is outlined in golden pearl beads from head to feet, while the body itself stays pale green print, and a drawn butterfly flutters above it. A band of amber beads frames the piece along the top and the right, with orange berries mixed into it in the upper corner. The ground is not filled in: the watercolour print holds the space and the beads hold the flowers, the leaves and the chick.
