Description

“Magic foam” shows a cup of coffee from above, its crema curling into a spiral.

What the picture shows

The foam is worked in concentric circles: pale yellow beads around the rim, then a row of brown beads with silver centres, and at the middle a dark brown spiral winding right into the centre. The lip of the cup is outlined in white beads, the edge of the saucer in lilac and pink, and the handle juts out on the left, also white with a lilac line. Coffee beans lie scattered around the saucer: each is gathered from black and bronze beads into a tight cluster, and there are more than a dozen of them. The ground is a printed photograph of coffee beans in warm browns and yellows, left unbeaded. All the density sits inside the circle of the cup, which is what gives the foam its relief.
