What the picture shows

The creature clings to a golden branch that crosses the top of the piece; the branch carries green leaves, small pink blossoms and a few yellow florets against a white ground. The bat's body is black, its face russet, and the spread wings differ: the left one is pink with white polka dots, the right one cream with pink flowers. The large round eyes with black pupils are the detail that rewards working in microbeads. The white background stays printed on the canvas; the branch, the flowers and the bat itself are beaded. The wings and the branch use beads of different finish — matt for the leaves, translucent for the flowers — so the surface is uneven to the touch.
