Description

“Happy Valentine's Day – 1” shows a small bear in a nightcap holding up a white sheet with a big red heart.

What the picture shows

The composition is quiet and kept in warm beige tones. The cap and the ears are outlined in amber beads, the eyes are single black beads, and against the chest lies a letter with a heart worked in red beads, the sheet itself edged with white and violet ones. Below, the paws show as beaded rings. A small bottle stands on the left and a dark inkwell with a quill on the right, with red and black beads scattered underneath. The pale lilac-grey background, like the bear itself, stays printed on the canvas while the beads pick out the outlines and, above all, the heart. There are seven colours, but half of them are shades of beige and amber, so the piece stays restrained. The red heart is the only bright spot and is stitched last of all.
