Bead Embroidery Magnet Kit "Going on the snow"

An owl in a knitted hat stands under falling snow and does not mind the cold at all — that is the “Going on the snow” magnet.

What the picture shows

The bird faces the viewer: a brown body with a bronze sheen, a pale breast, round eyes with black pupils in white rims. A red hat with a turned-up brim and a few red dots sits on its head, a white-and-red scarf wraps the neck and its end falls to the left. Blue snowflakes of six beads each are scattered around. The background shades from pink at the top to turquoise below and stays printed on the canvas — only the owl, the hat, the scarf and the snowflakes are beaded. The snowflakes are made of six beads around a single centre, so they are all alike and evenly spaced. The scarf is worked in two colours, row by row.

This is the lightest piece in the series by bead count — 344 beads in seven colours on 55×55 mm. The finished magnet is assembled in the round acrylic frame and fixed with the magnetic tape. A warm brown bird against a cold ground — that contrast carries the whole design. It is the quickest piece in the series, which makes it a convenient place to start with microbeads.
