Description

“Fly with cats” shows a black cat and a white cat caught mid-leap above the rooftops.

What the picture shows

Both figures are worked along the outline: the black one in black and grey beads, the white one in pearl and grey. Their tails are up and their paws thrown out, so the movement reads at once. A rail of amber beads runs beneath them, and below it a row of attic arches outlined in golden and bronze beads. The orange-terracotta sunset sky stays printed: on art canvas the beads are not solid. The warm amber range runs almost without other colours — the piece rests on silhouettes rather than on patches of colour. The attic arches below are beaded in bronze and gold and act as the support of the composition: without them the cats would hang in a void. Both tails are run as a single line.
