Description

In “Fashion hat” a little monkey tries on a wide straw hat and looks into a hand mirror.

What the picture shows

The hat is beaded in rows of yellow and gold, with green leaves and white and pink flowers laid along its brim. The monkey's dress is worked in bright blue beads flecked with green, and the collar in white pearls. In her left hand she holds an oval mirror in a red and pink beaded frame, and her own face in the same hat looks back out of it. The faces and paws stay printed, outlined with beads. The ground is light, with faintly drawn flowers; separate blooms are embroidered over it — green stars, a red flower, yellow and pink rosettes. The canvas is not covered solidly; the beads work as accents on the printed image.
