Description

“Easter basket – 3” shows a yellow chick peeping out of a basket of eggs, with lilies of the valley beside it.

What the picture shows

The basket along the bottom is worked in bands of brown and golden beads, with two eggs showing above it — a pink one with printed flowers and a blue one. The chick behind them stays printed; only the blue bow on its head is stitched in pale blue and white beads. Blue forget-me-nots with yellow centres, orange blooms and green leaves in beads sit on either side, and white lily-of-the-valley bells hang on green stems to the right. The soft light green background is printed as well. The basket and the flowers are filled densely while the chick stays almost untouched, and that contrast is what makes the piece interesting. The lilies of the valley are single white beads on green stems and are stitched last.
