“Diet – 1” shows a tall sundae glass with ice cream and a wafer, and a glum plush bear beside it.

What the picture shows

The glass fills the right side: stem and bowl outlined in clear silvery beads, layers of red and white beads inside, a wafer of amber beads and berries on top. Clear beads are scattered over the tablecloth beneath it. The bear on the left rests its head on its paws and stays printed, as does the blurred lilac-white background. A humorous printed caption sits in the upper left and does not need stitching. The clear beads on the glass behave like glass itself and are what make the design recognisable. The red layers inside are laid in rows and the wafer diagonally. The bear stays printed on purpose: it is the backdrop for the dessert.

The smallest palette in this group — only four colours — so the piece works up quickly. The finished embroidery is fixed to the acrylic base with the magnetic tape from the kit; the frame in the photo is not included. The clear and silvery beads look almost the same from a distance, so it is worth checking the order against the printed design on the canvas.
