Description

“Couple in love – 1” shows two yellow chicks leaning against each other in front of a full moon.

What the picture shows

The chicks sit side by side, almost merging into one shape. Their bodies are outlined in amber and yellow beads and their wings are built from rings of pink and yellow beads — the trick that gives the piece its relief. Behind them glows a large white moon, its rim marked with white and silver beads. The background is pink with printed specks and a few beaded stars, and a garland of pink and white beads hangs from above. The beaks, the eyes and the down itself stay printed on the canvas. The wings of beaded rings are the main technique here: each ring is laid separately and together they give the relief. The rest is outlines and stars, so the beads draw rather than fill.
