Description

“Bullfinch” shows a red-breasted bird on a spruce branch with clusters of berries, snow falling around it.

What the picture shows

The bullfinch stays largely printed: his breast is picked out in red-orange beads, the head and wing are black, the back grey. The spruce needles are worked in elongated green beads, with clusters of small red berries hanging below. Snowflakes of white and pale blue beads are scattered across the canvas and give the piece its main sparkle. The light blue background is printed and takes no beads. The piece rests on three accents: the bullfinch's red breast, the red berries below and the cold glitter of the snowflakes. Between them lie green needles of long beads set at different angles, which is why the branch looks real. The background is pale, so every bead shows clearly, and the embroidery covers less than half the surface.
