Bead Embroidery Bookmark Kit "The Ten Commandments of the Law of God"

“The Ten Commandments of the Law of God” is a bookmark that fits the whole text of the commandments across its front and its reverse.

What the picture shows

At the top of the front, inside an arch, stands a prophet in a blue tunic and red cloak holding an open scroll, with a small inscription above his head. Under the icon a bronze frame holds the title, and below it run commandments one to four. The reverse carries the rest, five to ten, together with the reference to the Book of Exodus. Above the text spreads a large pattern of bronze scrolls dotted with blue flowers; the same motif is repeated at the foot. A dense beaded border runs around the edge, with a cord loop at the top. The palette is restrained: bronze, ochre, deep blue and a little green. The beads work the frame, the ornaments and the border, while the prophet and the lines of the commandments stay printed on the canvas.

Because of the long text the piece reads like a small wall plaque, though its format is that of a bookmark. The finished embroidery is cut along the outline and the two sides are joined; the cord and the backing are not part of the kit.
