Bead Embroidery Bookmark Kit "A Prayer for Help with Studies"

“Prayer for help in studies” is a bookmark with an image of St Sergius of Radonezh and the full text of the prayer read before study.

What the picture shows

Inside the arch on the front is an icon of a grey-bearded elder in dark monastic robes, his hand raised in blessing, with a small inscription above. Below it a symmetrical monogram is worked in gold and deep burgundy, and under that comes the title of the prayer. The foot holds a spray of small white flowers resting on an open book in a bronze binding. The reverse opens with a large green-and-burgundy ornament shaped like a crown with two scrolls, followed by the prayer itself in one continuous column. The colours rest on gold, deep burgundy, olive green and white. The beads cover the monograms, the flowers, the book and the border; the icon and the lines of text stay as printing on the canvas.

The piece is narrow, so it is stitched in short sections and needs no large hoop. The finished bookmark is cut along the outline and the two sides are joined, while the cord and the backing are chosen separately.
