Paint by numbers 40×50 cm is the 400×500 mm format using 15–23 colours. This is a full picture for the wall: 15–25 hours of work, with more room for detail and smoother transitions of colour.

What is included

Canvas with the outline and area numbers printed on it, acrylic paints in numbered pots, nylon brushes in several thicknesses and a final varnish.

Why the larger format is often easier

A bigger canvas sounds like more work, but with the same design the areas on 40×50 cm are larger than on 30×30 cm, so there is less to do with the fine brush and the pace is more relaxed.

Subjects

Animals and birds, landscapes, marine and adventure designs.

Questions and answers

How long does a 40×50 canvas take?

15–25 hours depending on the colour count.

Is it harder than the 30×30 format?

Longer, but not harder: the areas are larger and more comfortable to fill.

How many coats of paint are needed?

Usually one, but if the outline shows through, let it dry for 15–20 minutes and go over it again.

When should the varnish go on?

No sooner than a day after the last stroke, on a completely dry painting.
