Description

“Trail to a Dream” is a mountain landscape in which a pale path leads past a meadow in bloom to a solitary house below snowy peaks. The mood is summery and unhurried.

What the picture shows

The upper part of the work is taken up by mountains — steel grey, lilac and white, with snow on their slopes — and tall clouds drift above them across a light blue sky. A band of firs and shrubs darkens the left side, while on the right stands a small house with a terracotta tiled roof and pale walls. The path enters the picture in a light curve and leads the eye straight to it. On both sides there is nothing but meadow flowers: big sunflowers with yellow petals, lilac and violet spikes of lavender, white daisies, small pink and blue blooms. Beadwork lies densely over the flowers, the trees and the roof, while part of the sky and the distant slopes stays as print on the canvas, which brings the foreground forward.
