Description

“Among Cornflowers” shows a ladybird sitting on white spring blossom with blue cornflowers opening all around — a small piece with a very close, almost macro view.

What the picture shows

The main character is a large red beetle with black spots, a black head and slender legs; its back runs from bright red to dark cherry with a pale highlight at the side, so it looks domed and lacquered. Below it open flowers with white petals carrying pink and blue shadows, and yellow stamens at the centre. To the right and below are the cornflowers: blue, their petals cut into fine rays, with dark violet middles. The leaves are deep green and the branch is brown. The background is blurred, shifting through pearly lilac and green, and stays as print on the canvas, while the beads and the decorative stones hold the beetle and the flowers in the foreground.
