Main Bead Embroidery Kit Under a Blazing Sun
Description
“Under a Blazing Sun” shows a sailing ship heading straight into a huge disc of fire, cutting through a wave. It is a dramatic sea subject built on a hard contrast of dark and light.
What the picture shows
The ship is almost a silhouette: three masts, furled sails, a pennant at the top, the hull worked in black, dark brown and bronze beads with a few pale glints on the rigging. Behind it blazes the sun, laid in yellow, gold and orange with ragged tongues of flame around the disc. A wave rises below — turquoise and blue, with white crests and golden sparks where the light reaches it — and the water itself is worked in long horizontal rows that read as ripples. The sky is dark grey with patches of cloud lit orange from beneath. The stormy background is partly left as print, while the beads carry the sun, the wave and the ship. The composition is built on the circle of the sun and the arc of the wave, with the ship placed exactly where they cross.
