Main Bead Embroidery Kit Hydrangeas in Porcelain
Description
“Hydrangeas in Pocelain” is a generous bunch of hydrangeas in a deep blue vase with a white lace collar, kept to a restrained blue and cream range.
What the picture shows
The flower heads are worked as separate rosettes: some cream and ivory, others running from pale sky blue to saturated cobalt, and it is this alternation that gives the bouquet its volume. Dry twigs with small golden buds stick out between the blooms, and dark green leaves with grey undersides lie underneath. The vase is round with a narrow neck, deep blue with shifting highlights, and a band of white lace worked in pale beads runs around its throat. Beside it on the table lie a small posy of the same flowers and a few scattered beads. The background is a calm, softly blurred olive grey and stays as print on the canvas — the beads take only the flowers, the vase and the leaves. Each rosette is a handful of petals around a dark centre, and it is from these small units that the whole head of the hydrangea is built.
