Main Bead Embroidery Kit Moonlight
Description
“Moonlight” is a field of lupins in lilac dusk with a full moon hanging above it. The piece is almost monochrome: everything rests on shades of purple.
What the picture shows
Tall lupin spires rise from the lower edge upward, from saturated violet and purple in front to pale pink and silvery lilac further back. Each spire is worked bead by bead around the stem, so it comes out rounded and grainy. The leaves are dark green and star-shaped, scattered between the stems. Above are the pale disc of the moon and long pink-lilac bands of cloud, and the horizon darkens into the toothed line of a fir forest. The sky and the forest stay as print on the canvas; the flowers, leaves, moon and clouds are beaded, and the microbeads carry the brightest highlights. The nearer spires are worked in detail while the further ones dissolve into the dusk haze, and that is what gives the field its depth.

The piece is vertical and quiet in mood, and it settles well in a bedroom or in a living room that needs restrained colour. The vertical lupins act as lines that carry the eye from the bottom of the canvas straight up to the moon, so the composition reads without effort. Gallery finishing is possible — no frame or mount.
