Description

“Honey motif” is a bumblebee seen from above against a field of honeycomb. The piece keeps to a warm amber range and rests on a single large image, with no extra detail.

What the picture shows

The abdomen is striped, black bands alternating with orange and gold, and the thorax is covered in fluffy yellow fur worked in fine beads in several shades. The wings are semi-transparent with a cool blue-silver sheen, and they give the strongest contrast to the warm body. Behind is a grid of hexagonal cells in amber, brown and grey, with round drops of honey and pearly highlights between them. The comb and the background stay as print on the artist canvas, the bumblebee is beaded, and the microbeads add fine sparkle on the wings and the drops. The antennae and legs are drawn in thin dark lines, and gold rims along the edges of the cells make the hexagonal grid crisper.
