Description

“Dream Bloom” shows three lotus flowers against a large cream-and-gold moon. The design is decorative and art deco in spirit: clean stem lines, medallion circles and a contrast of dark against gold.

What the picture shows

At the centre the largest lotus opens out: its outer petals are worked in almost black beads with a deep emerald sheen, while the heart glows with gold and mother-of-pearl. Lower down, to the left and right, stand two smaller flowers — one white with silver, the other white with a bluish cast, both surrounded by blue and turquoise spheres of varying size. The stems are slender, beaded in coppery gold, curving in smooth arcs and ending in spirals and hanging strands of beads. Behind them is the wide disc of the moon in a baked-milk tone with a faint plant pattern, and the surrounding background is dark grey. Glass drops, leaves and pearls are placed point by point and give the piece raised accents where the beadwork stays flat. The symmetry is not exact: the side flowers differ in size and colour, and that is what keeps the composition alive.
