Description

“The taste of Christmas” is a festive bouquet of poinsettia, red bows and fir branches on a deep green ground. The composition is arranged in a circle, like a Christmas wreath.

What the picture shows

At the centre is a large star-shaped poinsettia in creamy pink and beige tones with a small pearly heart; every petal is worked in rows following its shape and edged with a darker outline, so the flower looks rounded. To its right shines a golden bauble with a carved pattern and a dark rim. Around them are scattered red bows with folded ribbon, cones, clusters of red berries and silvery green needles laid in long stitches, which makes the branches look soft and prickly at once. Pearls and glass drops glimmer between them and catch the light. The dark green background stays as print on the artist canvas and works like a velvet backing that makes the reds and golds especially saturated. The arrangement is dense, with almost no empty space between the elements, and the palest patch — the poinsettia — confidently holds the centre.
