Main Bead Embroidery Kit Lighting the way
Description
“Lighting the way” shows a lighthouse at night, when the sky around it curls into spirals. A dark silhouette, the warm fire of the lantern and a cold blue glow — the whole piece is built on that contrast.
What the picture shows
The tower stands almost dead centre: its body is worked in black and dark blue beads with narrow bands, and at the top a copper-orange lantern glows under its dome and railing. To the right of the lighthouse a large blue halo unwinds, with whirls of cloud spreading out from it. On the left the sky is darker, with lilac and reddish specks of stars and curls that look like waves. Below there is a cliff with steep steps and the sea, beaded in blue with white crests, while an orange path of reflected lantern light runs across the water. The fine details — spray, sparks and the outlines of waves — are worked in bugle beads, which give long straight strokes. The dark grey background stays as print, so the light in the picture reads at once. The whole composition rests on the single vertical silhouette of the tower, with everything else turning around it.
