Main Bead Embroidery Kit Dancing around the campfire
Description
“Dancing around the campfire” shows a large night bonfire with white moths circling it. The subject is simple and very graphic: hot fire in the middle and cold darkness all around.
What the picture shows
The flame is laid out in wavy tongues that shift from deep red at the base through orange to yellow and almost white at the very tips — it is this gradation that creates the sense of movement. At the bottom lies a pile of firewood: black logs with sharp splinters worked in long bugle beads, and embers smouldering between them. Moths have scattered around the fire, stitched in white and silver beads, each with its own silhouette and wing pattern. The background is dark grey, with faint blue mountain silhouettes below and greenish sparks rising with the smoke. The mountains and the night sky stay as print on the artist canvas — the beadwork carries only the fire, the logs and the moths, which is what pushes them forward. The whole scene is built around a single source of light, and that light stays the only bright patch in it.
