Description

“Spring joy” is an Easter wreath in the shape of a rabbit: two long ears of woven twigs and a round wreath beneath them.

What the picture shows

The frame of the wreath is beaded in brown — thin branches that carry everything else. Along them run green needles, cut fern leaves, yellow mimosa balls, small white and pink blossoms and little painted eggs in pink, yellow, pale blue and cream. The fluffy blooms are stitched bead by bead so they stand out in relief, while the eggs are filled in even rows and rise clearly above the twigs. At the bottom the wreath is tied with a generous pink bow in white polka dots with long ribbons. The calm mint-blue background stays as print on the canvas, scattered here and there with light specks; beadwork covers only the wreath and the bow. Each ear is bent separately, so the silhouette reads at once, before you notice the details. At the upper left a pink apple blossom opens on a twig — the largest single flower in the whole piece.
