Description

“Space dream” is an ornamental wave running diagonally across a dark canvas like a nebula in the night sky. The piece is abstract, with no recognisable subject.

What the picture shows

Everything is built on one long diagonal: a stream of scrolls, spirals and teardrop paisley motifs runs from the top right corner down to the bottom left. The hearts of those scrolls are the most densely beaded, in lilac, violet, turquoise, yellow and orange with small black accents. The outlines of the larger curves are marked with thin lines of beads, while part of the pattern is deliberately left as print on the canvas: turquoise and grey contours show through on the graphite ground like a faint continuation of the drawing. Single pale beads are scattered across the open field and read as distant stars. Glass ovals, rondelles and sequins add extra shine to several of the centres. The top left and bottom right corners stay almost empty, and that emptiness makes the diagonal read even more strongly.
