Description

“Love coo” shows two doves sitting side by side on a hillside above a dense flowering meadow. A quiet romantic scene in warm pink and lilac tones.

What the picture shows

The birds are at the centre: one dove-grey and blue, the other paler with a pinkish breast, their wings worked in rows of grey and blue beads with clearly marked feathers and their heads turned towards each other. Below them the meadow is stitched very densely: round dandelion and allium heads, pink and magenta pompoms, small white and lilac flowers, green stems and grasses. Tall pink and purple foxglove spikes rise on both sides, with flowering shrubs at the left and right edges. A white butterfly flies in at the top right. The sky, the distant hills and the path stay as print on the canvas, so all the weight of the piece sits in the flowers. The flowers are stitched with beads of different sizes, so the meadow has real texture: the round heads stand out while the small blossoms lie flat.
