Main Bead Embroidery Kit Blooming sorbet
Description
“Blooming sorbet” is a narrow vertical panel with a branch of cream and peach peony-like flowers. The name is accurate: the colours really do look like sorbet.
What the picture shows
A stem runs the full height of the canvas from bottom to top, carrying large open blooms and several tight buds. The petals move from milky white and peach into soft lilac and pale blue at the edges, so every flower looks lit from within. The leaves are worked in saturated green and emerald beads, the stems in a darker shade. The background is a blue-lilac watercolour wash, and a pale openwork pattern like carved lattice runs down the right side; it stays as print on the canvas. Beads cover only the flowers and foliage, which is exactly why the plant comes forward while the ground stays soft and matte. The flowers face in different directions, so the branch never looks flat, and the lowest bloom runs almost past the edge of the canvas.
