Description

“Autumn latte” shows a blue coffee cup against a warm ochre panel, framed by autumn leaves. A narrow vertical canvas made as a cosy coffee sketch.

What the picture shows

The background is white at the edges and orange-gold at the centre: an ochre rectangle with fine spatters, like a coffee mark, sits in the middle of the canvas. On it stands a cup on a saucer, painted with small white and orange florets over deep turquoise blue. The coffee is dark, with foam and golden highlights. Steam rises from the cup, laid out in white beads as a curling ornament of scrolls with a heart inside — that is what makes the scene warm. Around the rectangle, above and below, autumn leaves are scattered: russet, orange, crimson and ochre, with clearly drawn veins, some lying as separate sprigs. Fifteen bead colours are enough, because the palette rests on two groups: the warm leaves and the single cool blue patch of the cup.
