Description

“Golden forest” is a night landscape with two deer on a golden bank and long reflections in dark water. A narrow vertical canvas with a very deep sense of space.

What the picture shows

At the top is a grey-blue night sky with a round gold moon and a small flock of birds. Three bare-crowned trees stand against it: gold on the left, a cool blue-white one in the middle, gold again on the right, each branch drawn in thin lines of beads. A hill runs beneath the trees carrying two white deer, with the outlines of distant slopes darkening behind them. The middle of the canvas is taken by a dense golden bank, stitched thickly and unevenly like dry grass. From it long gold bands of reflection fall away and dissolve into blue water flecked with turquoise and dark strokes. Fourteen bead colours are enough because the work rests on three ranges: gold, deep blue and cool silver. Fifteen and a half thousand beads mean dense coverage across almost the whole surface.
